Pokémon: Status scale of cards

The conditions of the cards are determined by several factors:

  • Folds

  • Scratches

  • Wear

  • Furrows

These “defects” compromise the value of the card itself.

For this reason, there is a reference scale which starts from the worst condition up to the best condition:

  • POOR: Poor indicates cards, which are in very bad condition, and are not recommended to purchase as they are worthless.

  • PLAYED (PL): Played indicates cards with wear due to the use of the card itself.

  • LIGHT PLAYED (LP): Light Played indicates cards used to play that have not always been protected with an appropriate envelop.

  • GOOD (GD): Good indicates cards that have several signs of wear, such as scratches or whitening on the back.

  • EXCELLENT (EX): Excellent indicates cards that are slightly used, which still have signs of wear and/or whitening.

  • EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+): Excellent Plus indicates cards that are slightly damaged. These slight damages are visible to the naked eye but, however, do not completely affect the aesthetics of the card. Small scratches and slight whitening define this condition.

  • NEAR MINT (NM): Near Mint indicates cards that can be defined as never used. These are cards with no evident signs of use, except for small scratches or a whitening dot on the back.

  • MINT (M): Mint indicates cards in perfect condition, which are free from signs of wear and/or imperfections. In order to guarantee this condition, it is important to immediately put the card inside the protective envelop or other protective accessory.

Glossary:

Whitening: Whitening defines small signs of wear and white scratches on the back of the card, exactly the blue frame.
