# How to downgrade Metamask

Follow the steps below in order to successfully downgrade Metamask:

* Go on chrome://extensions/ and make sure you have "Developer Mode" active (upper right side of the tab)

* **Make sure to have your Metamask SEED PHRASE saved and securely stored**
* Now remove Metamask from the extensions
* Click on this link <https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/releases> and scroll down to the 9.8.4 (this is the quicker [link](https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/releases/tag/v9.8.4))
* Download the extension
* Unzip it and save
* Now drag and drop the folder into the Chrome Extensions page&#x20;
* Login into Metamask using your seed phrase
* Now you're on 9.8.4 version

In order to get back to the current version, just remove again Metamask and download it from their website. Log into it using the seed phrase.
